  1. +Jim Beckwith I agree with all you've said, except with this: "Not only does this confirm the falling away of truth in 2nd Thess 2:3" In order to obtain the best possible understanding of 2 Thessalonians 2:3 we need to read this verse in the Geneva Bible 1599: 2 Thessalonians 2:3 1599 Geneva Bible (GNV)
Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a departing first, and that that man of sin be disclosed, even the son of perdition.
'departing' is the right translation of the Greek word 'apostasia', and it has nothing to do with apostasy, though these words almost sound the same, but 'apostasia' is GREEK and 'apostasy' is ENGLISH. This translation is a great confirmation of the pre-Time of Jacob's Trouble-rapture.

  2. +Jim Beckwith

SEVEN translations prior to the KJV1611 were right concerning 2 Thessalonians 2:3 and the Greek word 'apostasia' was translated into departure or departing.

Then the KJV1611 came and the Greek word 'apostasia' was translated into 'a falling away', which doesn't make sense.

'A falling away' is suggesting APOSTASY among believers, which this verse is not talking about.

"Another problem is you seem to think day of Christ stands for the rapture. It doesn't."

    Can you read my mind?

    I don't think so!

I'm familiar with the difference between the day of Christ and the day of the Lord, but that's not my point: my point is that the KJV1611 is misleading people concerning the rapture.

First I found a better translation of 2 Thessalonians 2:3 in the World English Bible

2 Thessalonians 2:3 World English Bible (WEB)
3 Let no one deceive you in any way. For it will not be, unless the departure comes first, and the man of sin is revealed, the son of destruction

And later I discovered that the Geneva Bible 1560-1599 had translated 'apostasia' into 'departing', which is also good.

    2 Thessalonians 2:3 1599 Geneva Bible (GNV)
3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a departing first, and that that man of sin be disclosed, even the son of perdition.

Now you and I both believe in the pre-Time of Jacob's trouble-rapture, so I would expect you to be happy with this better translation of 2 Thessalonians 2:3, but you're not.

Is the KJV1611 such an idol to you, that you're not prepared to listen to reason?

The KJV1611 is DEAD WRONG concerning 2 Thessalonians!

Now I don't say the Geneva Bible is perfect or the W.E.B., but the Geneva Bible is older than the KJV and often better.

Know more about this translation, which is based on the right manuscripts from Antioch:

Despite being virtually unknown today, the Geneva Bible is most revolutionary of all English Bibles. It was born out of persecution and takes its name from the initial city of publication. When Mary I, also known as "Bloody Mary," took the throne in 1553, English Bibles were made illegal and heavy persecution broke-out against Protestants and proponents of English Scripture. Hundreds fled England and many of these exiles settled in Geneva, Switzerland, where they produced a new English Bible—the Geneva Bible.

  3. +Jim Beckwith
I'm not talking about the 'day of Christ' in connection to the rapture: I'm talking about the wrong translation of 2 Thessalonians 2:3 in the KJV1611.

Don't be a KJV-onlyist, because God-the Lord JESUS wants to give us the BEST, despite what people have done to His word.

I'm not a follower of King James, or of the translators of the Geneva Bible, and English isn't even my mother tongue: I'm a follower of the WORD, JESUS Christ, and He wants to give me the best possible understanding of His Bible He told me to read when He saved me.

  4. +Atheism is Madness
My favorite Bibles are the Geneva Bible and the W.E.B., because in the latter case I use this translation in case I need a better understanding of the older English of the GNV1599.
The KJV1611 is superior to most modern versions, but not always, because the W.E.B. for example makes a clear distinction between the terms 'hell', 'hades', gehenna and Sheol.
    Here you can compare:

The WEB uses 'Yahweh' as God's name, which is also not right, because God's name is simply 'I AM (who I AM), but it's better than just 'LORD', though the word LORD is in itself not wrong, because God is also the LORD and then we may think of course of JESUS.

    Here you can compare:

The GNV1599 isn't also correct in this case, but that's understandable, because when this translation was made by English exiles in Geneva, Switzerland, the Roman Catholic church had oppressed the use of the Bible for centuries, and they started to work with what they knew at that time.

No translation is perfect, but I believe the GNV1599 comes closest to the original Hebrew and Greek manuscripts.

But I'd like to see a version without the footnotes, because the makers of the GNV1560-1599 didn't have the right vision on Israel and the Jews, which is also understandable, because during that time it was inconceivable that the Jews would ever get their country back, and this goes for the all the other translators too who lived in that era.

The makers of the WEB are born again followers of the Lord Jesus Christ, and here you can read more about their motivation for making 'another translation of the Bible':

So if you read the KJV1611 it's okay, but always keep in mind that 2 Thessalonians 2:3 is an example of some of the blunders (consciously or unconsciously) of this translation.

  5. +Atheism is Madness
Of course 'sacred name theology' is nonsense, and those who say the name JESUS (the English-Greek version of the Hebrew name Yeshua) derives from 'Zeus' are drunk or brain damaged or both.

In English the name of our savior is simply JESUS CHRIST.

JESUS means 'I am salvation' and CHRIST means (the) 'anointed' (with the Holy Spirit of course).

So CHRIST JESUS means 'the anointed I AM salvation', and 'I AM' is GOD!

Is this your attitude of a SERVANT of JESUS?
The KJV is WRONG concerning 2 Thessalonians 2:3.

    Bye Jim! ;-))

+Hans S What is the name of your Bible you like to use? The english bible? I am going to make a video exposing this damnable version for ALL to see as a response to your post.

Interesting: someone is telling me to go somewhere else on someone else's thread....

+Jim Beckwith I'd like to see this video because to be honest I'm ignorant concerning older versions specifically if you can focus in on the Geneva Bible it would be appreciated. The newer satanic versions go without saying and I've done my research on Wescott and Horts secular, evolutionary background. They had no more business revising the bible than Anton Levey or Allister Crowley does. Thanks Jim, looking really forward to this study.

+Hans S Are you worried now Hans? Or are you going to give me the name of that english Bible?

My favorite English Bible is the Geneva Bible, and because I'm Dutch I use the World English Bible as a reference in case the older English is a bit hard to understand.

+Atheism is Madness I've read quite a few opinions by former KJV-readers who came to the conclusion that the Geneva Bible is better.

  7. +Atheism is Madness End times apostasy?

    Here we go again
: that's based on the wrong translation of the GREEK word 'apostasia' in 2 Thessalonians 2:3 in the KJV1611, because the right translation is 'departure' or 'departing' and not 'a falling away'.

There is NO apostasy among born again worshipers of JESUS!

    FAKE Christians are falling away.

  8. Christ Jesus (YAHUSHUA) loves us ALL ! ARE YOU SAVED ? Thank you Brother Hanss for this post. Very educational :) Tot ziens

    1. Ha Donna!
Thanks for commenting and our Lord JESUS is with us! ;-))

      Tot ziens and see yah!
